Project One: Make Ice Cream
Monday, June 1st, 2009 | Delicious
I have been to over three grocery stores today and all of them don’t have any stock of my favorite ice cream flavor. This has happened to me twice already and I just can’t stand going through this again. I have decided to make ice cream myself starting now.
I already have my ice cream mixer and all the ingredients I would need to make my very own version of frozen dessert. Before I make a complicated flavored ice cream, I decided to first make the basic and most well-loved ice cream flavor—vanilla.
Taking the sugar, milk, and cream, I mix everything well together in a pan and constantly stir it in low heat. After that, I add vanilla to the mixture and chill it in the fridge. After a few hours, I take the chilled mixture out and place it inside the ice cream mixer. The ice cream mixer thickens the consistency and the texture of the mixture. Once the ice cream has a thick consistency, I take it out. I can either serve it soft serve or I can place it in a plastic container and freeze it some more to be able to achieve the hardness of the normal ice cream.
